Coffee prices at the new cafe-style outlets range from ¥220 to ¥330, higher than at regular McDonald's outlets. "But ours will be about ¥100 cheaper than our target competitors (such as Starbucks).
Furthermore, we want to exceed them in terms of taste and customer satisfaction," said Eikoh Harada, chairman and president of McDonald's Japan at the opening of the Omotesando cafe. The firm will open another cafe in Roppongi Hills, and plans to have 30 McCafe by Barista outlets running by year's end and up to 600 open by the end of 2015.
