L.A. based shop Kitson, known as the stomping grounds of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, has arrived in Japan. The first shop opened in the Lumine department store in Shinjuku on March 8th, the launch was marked by a huge fashion show the day before. Now on September 6th a second store in Harajuku opened to please its customers.

The fashion show was part of the Tokyo Girl’s Collection annual show and began with a slideshow of paparazzi shots of Hollywood socialites walking out the the L.A. location. As models came out to start the show, fake paparazzi on stage chased them down the runway, clicking their cameras. Everyone wants to be famous, it seems.

The launch is well timed, as there is increased interest in Hollywood celebrities amongst Japanese, with new magazines such as Gossips Press focusing exclusively on Hollywood celebs, and completely bypassing the usually ubiquitous Japanese talents. As Kitson offers the exact same outfits that can be seen on the Olsen twins, Nicole Ritchie and other in the paparazzi photos, it is sure to be a hit with Japanese shoppers.

For the launch of the second store in Harajukus LaForet departmentstore a huge black wall with the announcement stood in place for the last few weeks drawing already massive attention to the location. The new store occupies some of the most prime retail space in all of LaForet, the shop in the very front of the mall, with a big window facing Meiji Dori.

Unlike the Shinjuku Kitson shop – which stocks over 100 different fashion brands – the new Kitson Harajuku shop will focus on one brand each season, along with stocking their own Kiston branded goods. The first brand featured at Kiston Studio Harajuku will be the New York brand “What Goes Around Comes Around”.
