![]() Louis Vuitton seems very inspired by Japan and everything Japanese. After Murakami the brand now follows Kawakubo’s fantastic new concept of underground guerrilla stores which pop-up as mysteriously as they disappear, leaving fans clamouring for more Thus LV recently opened their new temporary underground store in Tokyo, located in the Seibu department store of Ikebukuro. ![]() The store’s raw and industrial approach shows why Louis Vuitton’s traditional high-brow products work so well with low-brow pop culture concepts. To celebrate the opening, Louis Vuitton even invited American rapper Kool Keith for a performance. Louis Vuitton/underground/ is raw-warehouse-chic to the core. Branded from the outside with nothing more than a painted stencil logo, the store stairwell entrance produces a back alley effect, with the name 'Louis Vuitton' hovering above like the entrance to an after-hours club. The interior area is one open space, designed as a warehouse with not much more than raw surfaces and unpolished shelving. ![]() The LV items are displayed on wooden crates and metal shelves. Exposes piping, yellow/black striped caution masking tape and construction cones section off items and display areas.
