Louis Vuitton seems very inspired by Japan and everything Japanese. After Murakami the brand now follows Kawakubo’s fantastic new concept of underground guerrilla stores which pop-up as mysteriously as they disappear, leaving fans clamouring for more Thus LV recently opened their new temporary underground store in Tokyo, located in the Seibu department store of Ikebukuro.

The store’s raw and industrial approach shows why Louis Vuitton’s traditional high-brow products work so well with low-brow pop culture concepts. To celebrate the opening, Louis Vuitton even invited American rapper Kool Keith for a performance.

Louis Vuitton/underground/ is raw-warehouse-chic to the core. Branded from the outside with nothing more than a painted stencil logo, the store stairwell entrance produces a back alley effect, with the name 'Louis Vuitton' hovering above like the entrance to an after-hours club. The interior area is one open space, designed as a warehouse with not much more than raw surfaces and unpolished shelving.

The LV items are displayed on wooden crates and metal shelves. Exposes piping, yellow/black striped caution masking tape and construction cones section off items and display areas. The space will be up and running for a limited time only, so do visit and check out the space if you happen to be in town.
